NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE

On September 26, a delegation representing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by former Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) and including Elias Gerasoulis and Dr. David Grigorian, met Congresswoman Anna Eschoo (D-CA) on Capitol Hill. The only member of the US House of Representatives of Armenian descent, Congresswoman Eshoo has been an outspoken advocate of Armenian issues in Washington and has travelled to Armenia in 2022 with the delegation led by the then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

During an hour-long conversation, the sides discussed the situation in and around Armenia, especially the widely expected aggression by Azerbaijan.

The NDA representatives shared their views on the disastrous role played by Prime Minister Pashinyan and his team in the context of the Artsakh war of 2020 and subsequent ethnic cleansing in 2023, highlighting the deceitful strategy of Pashinyan to please the West while remaining under the complete and unequivocal control of Russia.

The sides discussed the unhelpful role of the State Department in covering up this “smoke and mirrors” game played by Pashinyan at the expense of the security, sovereignty, and development of Armenia since 2018.

The delegation also discussed the inability of the Armenian community in the US to impress upon their political leaders in Washington the importance of defense and security of Armenia, including Artsakh, which given Armenia’s current challenges requires a reset of both the engagement modalities with, and the message for, Washington.

A personal friend and former colleague of Jim Moran, Congresswoman Eshoo appreciated the briefing and proposed steps to make NDA’s engagement with Washington more effective.

We are grateful to Congressman Moran and his team at Moran Global Strategies (MGS) for his tireless representation of NDA and its vision for the US-Armenia relations, and to our supporters in the United States for providing the financial support to make the partnership between MGS and NDA possible .
