STATEMENT OF THE NATIONAL-DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE
On the trilateral Aliyev-Trump-Pashinyan meeting held in Washington on August 8, 2025, and the consequential decisions made and documents signed during that meeting.
We firmly assert our long-standing commitment to strengthening and expanding relations with the West, particularly with the United States. This alignment is driven not merely by political, economic, and military interests but also by our shared civilizational values.
However, this vision for a robust partnership necessitates a sovereign and genuinely representative Armenian government. The civilizational shifts currently reshaping the global landscape have presented our people with unprecedented opportunities, yet the collaborationist regime currently in power lacks the vision and capability to capitalize on these favorable “winds.” The government’s sole priority is to cling to power, sacrificing the genuine interests of Armenia and the Armenian people in the process.
We acknowledge and commend the efforts of the U.S. government to secure Armenia against Turkey’s encroachments, especially in Syunik after Russia’s departure.
Nonetheless, we emphatically protest the inadequate substance of the Washington meeting, reiterating that the Armenian entity involved does not legitimately represent our people and fails to champion Armenian interests.
In detail:
- Azerbaijan, with the tacit acquiescence of the Armenian government, continues to maintain its armed forces on the territory of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, as delineated by the illegitimate criminal Lenin-Stalin agreements, and has not undertaken to withdraw its armed forces.
- No peace treaty has been signed by Azerbaijan with Armenia, nor has it officially renounced any claims it has or will have in the future against Armenia. Alarmingly, the tripartite document compels the Republic of Armenia to adhere to 17 points put forth by Azerbaijan.
- Azerbaijan, with the Armenian government’s tacit approval, has not committed to returning Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages unlawfully detained in Baku.
- The Armenian government has tacitly enabled the repeal of subsection 907 of the U.S. Congressional “Support for Freedom” Act, which previously obstructed direct aid to Azerbaijan.
- The dissolution process of the OSCE Minsk Group is accelerating, gaining legitimacy through Armenia’s unwarranted signatures and commitments.
- Disturbingly, the statement fails to address the rights and security guarantees for the return of the Artsakh people.
- In a further affront, Ilham Aliyev brazenly demands changes to the Armenian Constitution, unapologetically meddling in Armenia’s domestic affairs.
