NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE

Press Release

Today marks the 104th anniversary of the disastrous Moscow Treaty of 1921, March 16. This Treaty was signed between Bolshevik Russia and Kemalist Turkey without the consent or involvement of the Armenian people and their lawful representatives.

This shameful document stands as a gross violation of the sovereign rights of the Republic of Armenia and a blatant breach of international law.

Legally, the Moscow Treaty is invalid as it was signed by two parties having no legal authority to determine the fate of the Republic of Armenia. Turkey, having been a defeated party in the First World War, unconditionally acknowledged its loss and therefore, had no right to dispose of Armenian territories.

Meanwhile, the Bolshevik regime of Russia was not recognized as a legitimate authority of Russia, and therefore could not act on behalf of Russia.

The Treaty of Moscow can be called the forerunner of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact as both were made by two dictatorial regimes – Bolshevik Russia and Kemalist Turkey – that divided the historical, ancient homeland of the Armenian people through secret deals, disregarding all established principles of international law and morality.

The current authorities of the Russian Federation are obliged to express a clear political stance by condemning the Moscow Treaty as evidence of injustice inflicted on the Armenian people. Restoring historical justice requires Russia to renounce this illegal document and reevaluate its political position based on the principles of justice and international law.

The National Democratic Alliance strongly condemns the Moscow Treaty of 1921 as a crime against the Armenian statehood. We declare that it holds no legal validity and cannot create any legal consequences.
The Armenian people bear responsibility of restoring historical justice, safeguarding their national interests, and reclaiming their undisputed rights to our sovereign territories.

We will continue to advocate for the restoration of our national interests and the affirmation of the legitimate rights of the Republic of Armenia.
