PRESS RELEASE
On March 11, 2025, the Office of Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) made public a copy of the letter addressed to President Donald J. Trump (mcusercontent.com) on February 26, 2025 regarding the security challenges facing Armenia and on broadening the U.S. outreach to include pro-Western parties in Armenia.
In it, Congressman Issa mentioned the “continued pattern of aggression and incendiary rhetoric by Azerbaijan’s President, Ilham Aliyev” calling Armenia a “threat to the region,… insisting that “fascism [in Armenia] must be destroyed” and expressed deep concern “that recent statements may be a preface to a further invasion of Armenia.”
Congressman Issa further notes that these statements are made at a time when the Trump administration has clearly made it the policy to seek peace in the world. “As your administration develops a robust Caucasus policy, in the interim, the United States should deter additional actions by Azerbaijan against Armenia by making clear that we are willing to use a wide array of instruments, including sanctions,” is stated in the letter.
Finally, in an unprecedented move, Congressman Issa called on President Trump and his administration to work closely with the NDA so that the United States “can appreciate the full scope of the Armenian political spectrum and encourage both existing and emerging voices that advocate for stronger ties between Armenia and the United States.”
We are pleased to note that the NDA representatives have worked with Congressman Issa’s office for the past several months and most recently met with him in Washington in January 2025 to discuss both the external and domestic political conditions in Armenia.
We thank Moran Global Strategies, our lobbyists in Washington, for raising issues of importance for Armenia and Armenians worldwide with the United States Government and helping the NDA build strong ties between the US and Armenia based on shared values and common interest.
