The National Democratic Alliance closely follows the developments in Georgia with deep concern. The recent events highlight the urgent need for a reaffirmation of democratic values and the protection of fundamental human rights in our region. As an essential partner and neighbor, Georgia’s stability and democratic progress are of vital importance to Armenia and the broader South Caucasus.
The European future is not just an aspiration but a common destiny for both Georgia and Armenia. Our shared values, history, and aspirations demand that we work together toward integration into the European family, where democracy, human rights, and the rule of law are upheld. We believe that a European future is the only sustainable path for our region to secure peace, prosperity, and dignity for all its peoples.
We call on the European Union and the United States to take a more robust and proactive role in supporting democratic governance and human rights both in Georgia and Armenia. Their involvement is essential in ensuring that the aspirations of the Georgian and Armenian peoples for a free and democratic society are realized and that authoritarian tendencies are firmly resisted.
We strongly condemn the excessive use of force by the Georgian authorities against peaceful protesters and political dissenters. Such actions undermine the very foundation of democracy and erode public trust in governance. We urge the Georgian government to exercise restraint, respect the rights of its citizens, and engage in meaningful dialogue to address grievances and political challenges.
Additionally, we unequivocally denounce the destabilizing interference of external powers, particularly Russia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, in the internal affairs of Georgia. These interventions only exacerbate tensions, hinder democratic progress, and undermine regional stability. The sovereignty and independence of all nations in the South Caucasus must be respected and safeguarded.
The National Democratic Alliance reaffirms its commitment to working with all democratic forces in the region to achieve our shared European destiny. We stand in solidarity with the Georgian people in their struggle for a democratic, peaceful, and prosperous future.
Together, let us build a region that is free from oppression, interference, and conflict, united in its pursuit of liberty, justice, and integration into the European family.
